Portal
The platform's front page. Visitors use it to see public maps and data. Signed-in people use it to start work, search and open Apps.
The Portal is the front page of the platform. You can open it whether or not you are signed in. This page explains what each of you sees, and how to search and open maps and data.
Open the Portal
Open the address of your platform with no App name after it, for example https://<your platform>/. If you are already signed in, you can also open the Launcher and click Portal.
After you sign in on the sign-in page directly, the platform brings you to the Portal. If you came from an App, it brings you back to that App instead.
Click Language in the top bar to switch between Thai and English. The browser remembers your choice.
If you are not signed in
A Visitor sees only what the administrator chose to show, and can open only Items that the owner shared as Public, such as maps, datasets and the figures on the page.
If the administrator has not turned on Public access, you see only a page with the name and logo of the platform and a Sign in button. You must sign in before you can see anything else.
Click Sign in in the top bar. When you are signed in, you come back to the Portal.
If you are signed in
You see the same page as a Visitor, and two more things. My work is at the top of the page. And the Blocks that the administrator set for signed-in people only, such as the list of Apps and systems, are shown.
If your account can edit this page, there is also an Edit this page button. See Edit the Portal page.
My work
This part appears by itself for everyone who is signed in. An administrator cannot remove or move it. It has four parts.
- A greeting with a search box. See Search.
- Create has the buttons Map, Dataset, Form and Import a file. Click one to open the App that does that job. A button for an App that the platform has not installed does not appear.
- Continue where you left off shows the maps, datasets, forms and dashboards that you can edit, the four that changed most recently. Click an Item to carry on with it. The list does not record what you opened, so it follows the time an Item was last changed, not the time you last opened it. If there is nothing yet, it tells you to start with Create.
- Apps shows the Apps you can open. If the administrator placed an Apps Block on the page, this part is not shown a second time.
Search
- Click the search box in the top bar (on a narrow screen it is the Search button), or press Ctrl + K (⌘ + K on a Mac). The search box opens.
- Type the name you want.
- Press the up and down arrows to choose, then press Enter to open.
What you find depends on whether you are signed in.
| You are | What you can search |
|---|---|
| Signed in | Everything you may see: maps, datasets, forms, dashboards, files and Apps |
| A Visitor | Only maps and datasets that are public |
If it says there is no result, try another word.
Open maps and datasets
Click a card or a search result to open the Item.
- A map opens full screen. Turn data on and off under Layers. If you are signed in, there is an Open in Map Studio button. A Visitor sees a Sign in button for staff who edit the map.
- A dataset shows the owner, when it was last changed, the number of rows and the number of columns. Below are Preview, which shows the first 10 rows, and Columns, which gives the name and type of each column. If the data has locations, there is a small map and a View on map button.
Download data
On the dataset page, click Download CSV or Download GeoJSON. You get a file with every row of the table, not only the 10 rows in the preview. If the download fails, it says "Download failed". Try again.
At the bottom of the page, API for developers shows an example request that fetches the same data. If the platform has turned on Public access, the example uses the platform's public API key and needs no sign-up. If not, you need your own API key (your API keys).
If it will not open
| Message | What it means |
|---|---|
| "This cannot be opened" and "This item is not public, or no longer exists." | A Visitor can open only Items that are public. If you have an account, click Sign in and open it again. |
| "This cannot be opened" and "This item was not found, or your account may not open it." | The Item was deleted, or the owner has not shared it with you. Ask the owner to share it with you. |
| "Page not found" | The address is mistyped, or the page has moved. Click Back to the front page. |
If the front page is not what you expect, for example a map you saw before is missing, ask the administrator. The administrator chooses what this page shows.
Get help
If you are signed in, click Help in the account card (Help). If you are not, click Help at the bottom of the page. Both open the manual of the Release the platform runs.
