Conditions and parameters
Make a widget always show only part of the data, and let viewers pick one value that controls several widgets.
This page helps you make a widget show only part of the data, for example only the North region. A condition is saved with the dashboard and viewers cannot remove it. A filter is different: it belongs to each viewer.
Add a condition
- Click the widget, then open the Conditions section in the panel on the right.
- Press Add condition.
- In Field, choose the field to use, for example region.
- Press Any value, choose the values you want, then press Done.
The widget changes at once. To remove a condition, press the x at the end of its row.
Use several conditions
Above the list of conditions are three buttons.
- All: every condition must match.
- Any: one matching condition is enough.
- None: no condition may match.
To combine them, for example the North region and the year 2566 or 2567, press Add group and put the year conditions in that group. Each group has its own three buttons.
Parameters
A parameter is a value a viewer picks once and several widgets share. For example, the viewer picks a month. One chart shows that month, and another shows the previous month for comparison.
A parameter only affects widgets that use it in a condition.
Create a parameter
- Click an empty spot on the dashboard. The panel on the right shows the Dashboard section.
- Under Parameters, press Add parameter.
- In Label, type the name viewers will see, for example Month.
- Choose a Type, then set it up.
- List: in Values from, choose which field supplies the options.
- Number: enter a Default.
- Date: choose a Period and a Default.
- Yes / No: choose a Default.
Use a parameter in a condition
- Click the widget, open the Conditions section, and add a condition.
- Press Use a parameter, then choose one in Parameter.
- If it is a date parameter and you want the previous period, enter −1 in Offset.
For example, take a parameter whose Period is Month. If the viewer chooses This month, a widget whose Offset is −1 shows last month.
To go back to a value you set yourself, press Use a value.
How viewers use a parameter
The parameter appears as a choice at the start of the filter bar. When the viewer picks a value, the widgets that use that parameter change to match. If they choose All, those widgets are not filtered by that parameter.
