The map widget
Put a map in the dashboard, draw records from a table on it, and click the map to filter other widgets.
This page helps you put a map in a dashboard. You can use a Web map made in Map Studio, draw records from your table on it, or use both.
Add a map
- Press the Widgets tab, then drag Map from the Content group onto the dashboard.
- The map starts from the platform's default Web map. If the platform has none, it says Needs configuration. Choose a base map.
Choose a base map
- Click the map, then open the Data section.
- Under Base map, press Select an item.
- Choose a Web map, then press OK.
Draw a table on the map
- Under Data source (optional), choose a table.
- In Geometry, choose the table's geometry field.
- If the table has no geometry field, leave Geometry empty and choose Latitude and Longitude instead.
The shortcut is to tick a geometry field in the Fields tab, and App Studio builds the map for you. See Start from fields.
Click the map to filter
In Clicking a feature filters by, choose one of these:
- The record: when clicked, widgets that use the same table show only the record you clicked.
- A field: when clicked, other widgets filter by that field's value.
Click the same spot again to cancel. If you leave this box empty, clicking the map filters nothing.
The map and the filter bar
The map is filtered by the filters on the bar like any other widget, then zooms to the records that remain. Layers in the Web map that have the same field are filtered too.
If the map is not what you expected
- If it says "An error occurred.", press Retry. If it does not go away, check that the person viewing has permission to open the Web map and the table.
- To change the Web map's layers or colours, edit them in Map Studio, because the map in a dashboard cannot be edited.
