Find, create and open maps
Find a map, create a new one, and open, share or delete a map
The All maps page is the first page you see when you open Map Studio. It shows every map you own.
Find a map
- Type the map name in the Search maps box.
- Click the sort button next to the search box and choose Recently edited or Name.
- If maps are missing, click Load more at the bottom of the page.
Maps that other people shared with you are not on this page. Open them from the link they sent you. See Send the link.
Create a map
- Click New map at the top right.
- Wait a moment. The editor opens the new map.
- Name the map. See Name the map.
The new map is named Untitled web map. It is in My Drive and is copied from the platform's default map, so it may already have layers.
Open a map
Click a card to open the map in the viewer.
Edit, share or delete a map
Click the ⋮ button at the corner of the card, then choose a command.

| Edit | Opens the map in the editor. |
| Share | Choose who can open or edit the map. See Share a map. |
| Delete | Deletes the map. Click Delete again in the Delete map? window. |
Edit and Share are only there for maps you can edit.
If you delete a map by mistake, restore it from Trash in Drive. See Trash.
If a map will not open

| "403 Forbidden" | Ask the owner to share the map with you, or sign in with another account. |
| "404 Not Found" | Check the link again. Someone may have deleted the map. |
| "This app isn't installed on this site" | Ask an administrator to install Map Studio. See Open Map Studio. |
