When something does not work
Common problems in Form Studio and how to fix them.
This page collects the common problems in Form Studio and how to fix them, with the most common first.
Submitting was refused
The bottom of the screen says Request failed with status code 403. There are two causes.
- You are only a Reader or a Commenter on the form. Ask the form's owner to share it with you as a Writer.
- The form's owner does not have enough permission on the primary table. Nobody can submit at all. Tell the form's owner, and see the next section.
The primary table must let the form write data
The form writes to the table with the form owner's permission. So the form's owner must be an Item organizer, Organizer or Owner of the primary table.
If not, ask the table's owner to share the table with them with one of these permissions. If you change the form's owner, the new owner needs this permission too.
You cannot open the form
| The screen says | What to do |
|---|---|
| 403 Forbidden | The form has not been shared with this account. Ask the form's owner to share the form, or press the icon next to your name to sign in with another account |
| 404 Not Found | Check that the link is correct |
| 401 Unauthorized | Sign in again |
| 500 Internal Server Error | Try again later |
If you open the editor and it says "404 Not Found", you do not have permission to edit this form. Open the form from the list of forms to fill it in instead.
The form does not save
- If Form title is empty, the form is not saved. Type a name.
- If a red message appears, such as "Network Error", and the status stays at Saving..., change something to save again, or reload the page and check the form.
A component has a red border
That component is not linked to a field yet. See Components with a red border.
You cannot sign in
If it says "An error occurred while fetching tokens.", press Retry, then sign in again.
It says the app is not installed
If the screen says "This app isn't installed on this site", your platform does not have Form Studio yet. Ask an administrator to install it as described in Apps and the Marketplace.
If it used to work, and now you cannot sign in and it says "401 - INVALID_CLIENT_ID.", an administrator has uninstalled Form Studio. Ask for it to be installed again.
