Add a map service
Add a layer from PMTiles, a MapLibre style, ArcGIS or OGC, and change its source later
A map service is a layer taken from the web, not from data in Drive. Every type is added from the same window.
Add a map service
- In the editor, click Add layer, then choose Map service.
- Set the layer's Name.
- Choose the Service type. The boxes for that type appear.
- Fill them in, then click Save.
Tiles that may be raster or vector
- Choose Tile URL (auto-detect).
- Enter the link in the URL template box. The link must contain
{z},{x}and{y}, or be the link of a TileJSON file. - Click Detect. The window says "Detected: raster tiles" or "Detected: vector tiles (MVT)".
- If it is a vector tile, choose the Source layer.
- Click Save.
If you change the link after detecting, you must click Detect again before you can save.
Raster tile
Choose Raster tile layer and enter the link in the URL template box, for example https://tile.example.com/{z}/{x}/{y}.png.
Use only {z}, {x} and {y}. The hint under the box says {level}/{col}/{row}, but if you use that, the tiles do not show.
PM tile
Choose PM tile layer and enter the link of the .pmtiles file in the URL template box. If the file is vector and has several source layers, you get a group with one sub-layer for each source layer.
MapLibre Style
Choose MapLibre Style, then in the Style box choose how to supply the style.
- Paste JSON, then paste the style into the box.
- Style URL, then enter the link of the style file.
- Browse file, then choose a
.jsonfile from your computer.
TomTom and HERE
You need an API Key that you get from the provider yourself.
- TomTom raster tile layer: set Type to Street, Hybrid or Labels, and set Style to Main or Night.
- HERE raster tile layer: set Type to Street, Satellite, Hybrid, Terrain or Traffic.
ArcGIS
Enter the service link in the URL box.
- ArcGIS tile layer and ArcGIS map image layer use the link of a
MapServer, for examplehttps://.../arcgis/rest/services/.../MapServer. - ArcGIS feature layer uses the link of a layer in a
FeatureServer, for example.../FeatureServer/0. You can set a style on this layer.
OGC
| Type | Boxes to fill in |
|---|---|
| OGC WMS layer | URL, Layers such as workspace:layer_name, Version 1.3.0 or 1.1.1, Format which starts as image/png |
| OGC WMTS layer | URL, Layer, Tile matrix set which starts as GoogleMapsCompatible, Tile matrix name, Style which starts as default, Format image/png or image/jpeg |
| OGC WFS layer | URL, Type names such as workspace:layer_name, Version 2.0.0, 1.1.0 or 1.0.0 |
For WMTS you must use a Web Mercator tile matrix set, such as GoogleMapsCompatible or EPSG:900913. If you use an EPSG set, enter the Tile matrix name as EPSG:900913:{z}. If the link is a REST one that already contains {TileMatrix}, leave Layer empty.
Change a layer's source
- Click the layer name, then open the Settings tab.
- Click Edit source.
- Change the values in the Map service window, then click Save.
The layer's name, opacity and visible range stay the same, but you cannot change the Service type here. If the layer has no Edit source button according to the table in Open a layer's panel, delete the layer and add it again.
