View
Create a read-only view from tables with an aggregation, and edit it later
A View is a read-only result calculated from other items, called its Source. You write how to calculate it as an aggregation (a list of steps in JSON). You cannot add, edit or delete the records of a view.
Create a view
- Create an item of the type View. See Create a table, view or collection.
- Open the view, then click the Aggregation icon.
- Next to View source, choose the table, collection or view to read data from, then click Select.
- In the editor, write the aggregation as a JSON list, for example
[{"$match": {"a1b2c3d4": {"$gt": 100}}}], which keeps the records whose fielda1b2c3d4is more than 100. - Click Save.
An aggregation refers to fields by ID, not by display name. You can see the IDs in the source's schema. See Fields.
Save stays faded until you choose a source and the JSON is valid. Cancel closes the box without saving.
Edit a view
Open the Aggregation box again, change the source or the JSON, then click Save. You must be an Item organizer or higher. Other people see a read-only box with only a Close button.
Use a view
A view shows in the table like any other table. You can search, sort, filter and export it. The eye button, View, opens a record as JSON. A view has no Schema, Add data or Import, and no bin button. See Records and Export data.
