Search
Find Items by name, description or text inside files, and filter by type, owner or folder.
This page helps you find Items in Drive fast. Drive searches names, descriptions and the text inside files such as Word, Excel and PDF, and shows only Items you can open.
Search as you type
- Click the Search in Drive box at the top.
- Type what you want. Drive shows up to 5 matching Items.
- Click the Item to open it, or press Enter to see all results.
Filter the results
- Click the filter button at the end of the search box.
- Choose a Type, for example Forms, Databases, Photos and images, PDFs or Folders.
- Choose the Owner: Anyone, Owned by me or Not owned by me.
- To search only inside one folder, choose the folder in Location. Drive also searches the folders inside it.
- To search the trash, tick In trash.
- Click Search.
Click Reset to clear all filters.
The results
The Search results page puts Items from every folder in one place, with the best match at the top. Right-click an Item to use commands, as on other pages.
